In an era dominated by hybrid systems, touchscreens and silent electric speed, the new Capricorn 01 Zagato feels almost rebellious. A hypercar built around sensation rather than software, lightweight instead of oversized, and mechanical instead of digital, fully focused on emotional aspect of driving a supercar.
Strictly limited to just 19 examples worldwide and priced at €2.95 million (£2.55m) before taxes, the Capricorn 01 Zagato is not trying to compete with mainstream supercars. It is positioning itself as an automotive collector’s piece designed for drivers who still believe performance should feel alive.

A Collaboration Between German Engineering and Italian Design
The Capricot 01 Zagato is the result of two very different automotive worlds coming together.
On one side sits Capricorn — the German engineering company with roots deeply embedded in motorsport. From Formula 1 to Le Mans endurance racing, capricorn has spent years developing lightweight structures, precision engineering systems and race-proven technologies for elite-level motorsport teams. Founder Robertino Wild describes the philosophy simply: engineering should be treated as craftsmanship.
Then there is Zagato. Founded in Milan in 1919, Zagato has become one of the most respected names in automotive design history. The company’s signature styling language and limited-production coachbuilt cars have long been associated with exclusivity, beauty and collectible value.
The Capricot 01 Zagato becomes the first hypercar ever to feature a Zagato-designed body from the outset — combining German structural precision with unmistakable Italian visual drama.
Lightweight Engineering Is the Entire Philosophy
Most modern hypercars have become increasingly heavy due to batteries, hybrid systems and advanced electronics, but the Capricot 01 Zagato goes in the opposite direction. Its entire structure is engineered around low mass and mechanical purity, the chassis features:
- a full carbon-fibre monocoque
- carbon-fibre subframes
- carbon crash structures
- titanium components
- lightweight alloy or optional carbon-fibre wheels
The result is a remarkably low dry weight of just 1,200kg — extraordinary for a modern hypercar producing over 900 horsepower.

A 900HP Supercharged V8 With No Hybrid Assistance
Perhaps the boldest decision of all is what the Capricot 01 Zagato does not include – there is no hybrid system, no electric torque fill, and no turbochargers. Instead, the car uses a naturally responsive 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine producing:
- 900+ horse power
- 1,000Nm of torque
- a screaming 9,000rpm redline
Power is sent through a rare 5-speed manual transmission — something almost extinct in the hypercar segment, and that decision alone instantly separates the Capricot 01 Zagato from rivals chasing lap-time perfection through automation.

The company’s philosophy is simple: every gram counts.
Performance Figures
- 0–100 km/h: 2.9 seconds
- Top speed: 360 km/h
- Dry weight: 1,200kg
- Manual gearbox
- Rear-wheel drive focus
Without hybrid weight or turbo lag, power delivery is designed to feel linear, immediate and mechanical. And it also features rembo carbon-ceramic brakes, race-derived chassis geometry, and lightweight forged or carbon wheels.

Fully road-legal supercar
Unlike many ultra-exclusive hypercars that spend most of their lives inside climate-controlled garages, the Capricot 01 Zagato has been engineered as a fully road-legal machine designed to be used properly. Production of the Capricot 01 Zagato will begin during the first half of 2026 at capricorn’s German facilities, and only 19 coupes will ever be built.
